Parasites
We know that parasites can lead to serious illness and even death in pets. For example, ticks can transmit infections like Lyme disease, and fleas can transmit tapeworms or Bartonella (cat scratch fever in humans). Heartworms are transmitted by mosquitoes and live in your pet's lungs and heart, leading to organ damage and even death. Intestinal parasites, such as roundworms or hookworms, also threaten pets and can be transmissible to humans.
We recommend annual testing to make sure your pet is free of parasites. Heartworm testing requires a small amount of blood, and a stool sample is required for intestinal parasite testing. If we find a problem we will recommend the appropriate treatment.
